13th and 14th salary payments are a form of additional compensation, accrued throughout the year, then traditionally paid out in one or two instalments in June and December. Diversity and inclusion is something we’ve heard a lot about in the past decade. From events in the media, to several studies done highlighting the lack of it in many sectors. 10 years ago, diversity and inclusion was merely a box ticking exercise. Fast forward to 2021, there is now inexplicable evidence that the more diverse a business is, the more successful it is.

In an era where, especially amongst millennials, the changing of jobs is becoming an ever more frequent occurrence, being able to retain employees is getting increasingly more challenging. With the sharp shift to remote working for many, being able to hold on to employees is no longer just about ensuring a good work social culture. Employees expect a smooth and engaging experience with their employer, if not, they don’t hesitate to look elsewhere.

Earlier this year, Microsoft release their own hybrid working policy for their 160,000 + employees globally. To help other organisations plan their working strategy, they released the 2021 Work Trend Index, which outlined findings from a study of over 30,000 people in 31 countries. They analysed productivity and labour signals across Microsoft and LinkedIn.

The global pandemic, for the vast majority, has completely shifted the way we work. Whether it’s been the move from the office to a room at home, or from selling face to face, to virtual. The pandemic has presented many challenges that businesses have had to adapt to, in a very short time.​
